CLUB YEAR: January - December - New members can be accepted at any time.
The Winter Haven Lunker Lovers Bass Club is one of the oldest bass clubs in the state of Florida. Tournaments are held monthly from January through October, with those qualifying fishing in a "classic" tournament during October or November. The qualifying tournaments are draw tournaments. Classic qualifiers have the option of fishing alone. All tournaments are LIVE RELEASE with a penalty for dead fish. NO ALCOHOL is allowed during tournament hours. Boaters who are not paired with a noboater have the option of fishing alone or with another consenting boater. Noboaters are expected to share expenses with boaters.
Membership is available by invitation only. Prospective members must first fish with a current member and be recommended at a Club meeting. The prospective member must be in attendance at that meeting. A majority of those present at the meeting must vote to accept the prospective member. The Club bylaws set maximum membership at one hundred. Members can be accepted at any time during the Club year.
Regular attendance at Club meetings is an important obligation of membership! Business is conducted according to democratic principles in a (hopefully) relaxed and orderly manner. Meetings begin at 7:30 PM and usually end around 9:30 PM. Guest speakers are occasionally invited for educational or informational programs.
A president, vice-president for activities, vice-president for fund-raising, treasurer, secretary, and tournament director are elected annually. Specific duties are listed for each in the Club's bylaws. The tournament committee, appointed by the tournament director, selects sites for each tournament. All other decisions, except routine matters, are made by the general membership at the regular meeting times. The club's activities are financed by membership dues, the amounts held from entry fees, and special fund raising events.
Club activities include couples tournaments, a youth tournament, a spring picnic for the entire family, and an annual banquet. Activities such as special tournaments or youth activities are undertaken as desired by the members. Activities of a family nature are always included.
All members are expected to participate in as many club activities as possible. Non-participating members may be removed from the Club roll as prescribed in the bylaws. All members are expected to show good sportsmanship and courtesy to all fishermen at all times.
